Some seniors just get the assignment… and Atticus was absolutely one of them. I’m so thankful that family connections brought him to MGP as one of our seniors this year — truly one of the best parts of being a Des Moines senior photographer is getting to meet amazing families through other amazing families. And this session? A total highlight.
We photographed his senior session on his family’s gorgeous property just outside Des Moines, and honestly, it could not have been a more perfect backdrop. Wide-open fields, rolling hills, hay bales, cattle, and the prettiest golden-hour light… it was basically “Iowa senior photo magic” wrapped into one evening.
A Senior Session That Actually Felt Like Him
One thing I always say: your senior photos should look and feel like your life. And Atticus understood that without me even having to say a word.
We mixed up his outfits with a few laid-back, casual looks and some more polished, dressed-up shots so he had tons of variety. He brought such an easygoing energy the entire time, and it made the whole session flow like a breeze.
And of course… we had to include his pup.

All the Farm-Life Details
One of my favorite things about shooting senior photos in Iowa — especially near Des Moines — is that so many seniors get to bring their world right into their portraits. Atticus’ session was the perfect example of that.
There’s just something special about a senior session that feels personal and rooted. Every spot we chose told a piece of Atticus’ story — who he is, what he loves, and where he’s grown up.

Right when we thought we had wrapped up the perfect session… the sky decided to flex. The sunset rolled in with the dreamiest glow, and we used every last drop of that golden light. These ended up being some of my favorite photos of the entire night.
