I had such a wonderful time photographing the Galeser family at Shawnee Mission Park, and honestly… this session is such a perfect example of why I love what I do.
Shawnee Mission Park is one of my favorite locations for family photos in the Kansas City area. It has the perfect mix of open space, beautiful natural light, and scenery that feels relaxed and timeless, especially in the fall. Pair that setting with a family as kind, joyful, and connected as the Galesers, and it’s pure magic.

Proof That Mini Sessions Can Still Be Meaningful
This session was technically “just” a fall mini session, but if you’ve worked with me before, you know there’s no such thing as just anything when it comes to documenting your people.
Even in a shorter amount of time, we were able to create photos that feel fun, natural, and full of life. There was laughter, movement, connection, and those little in-between moments that make family photos feel real. Mini sessions are fast-paced, yes—but they can still be incredibly meaningful when everyone shows up ready to be themselves.
That’s one of my favorite things about family photography: it doesn’t need to be stiff or over-posed to be beautiful. Some of the best moments happen when you’re simply enjoying time together.

Why Shawnee Mission Park Is a Go-To for Kansas City Family Photos
If you’re looking for a location for family photos in Kansas City, Shawnee Mission Park is a dream. It offers:
- Gorgeous any time of year — spring, summer, fall (probably even winter!)
- Plenty of space for kids to move and play
- A natural, timeless backdrop that won’t distract from your connection
It’s a location I come back to again and again because it allows families to relax—and when you’re relaxed, the photos naturally follow.
Family Photos That Feel Like You
My goal with every family session is to create an experience that feels easy and genuine. I guide you when needed, but I also leave room for the moments that unfold naturally—the giggles, the hugs, the little glances that make your family your family.
The Galeser family absolutely leaned into that, and the result was a gallery full of warmth, joy, and connection.
