GET THE SENIOR GUIDE

If you’re a Kansas City high school senior in the Class of 2027, your senior photos should look like your life.

That means more than great outfits and pretty locations. It means capturing the things that shaped your high school years like the hobbies, passions, teams, and activities that made you you.

For so many seniors, sports are a huge part of their story.

Early mornings. Late practices. Team dinners. Game days. Wins, losses, hard work, discipline, friendships, and memories.

That deserves to be documented.

As a Kansas City senior photographer, I love helping seniors bring athletics into their photo sessions in creative, stylish, and personality-filled ways.

Why Bring Sports Into Your Senior Photo Session?

Your senior photos are about celebrating this season of life.

If athletics have been a big part of your high school experience, incorporating your sport adds meaning and authenticity to your images.

Bringing your sport into your session:

  • Makes your photos personal and unique
  • Captures a huge part of your identity
  • Helps tell your senior year story
  • Creates natural posing opportunities
  • Highlights years of dedication and hard work
  • Gives variety to your final gallery
  • Makes your session feel like you

Whether you’re varsity, club, recreational, or just passionate about it—your interests matter.

Kansas City Seniors Who Brought Their Sports to Their Session

Here are some amazing seniors who made their sessions personal by incorporating athletics.

Andrew: Hockey

Andrew brought hockey into his session in multiple ways, and it was such a cool combination.

We photographed him on the ice and in the locker room. And he also brought his jersey to the studio for a bold red monochromatic moment.

The mix of real-life sports environment and creative studio portraits made this session unforgettable.

Caden: Baseball + Football

Caden brought two major parts of his story into his senior session.

We photographed him at his high school baseball field on the field and in the dugout.

For football portraits, we switched things up and photographed him on his family’s property, giving the session a personal and rugged feel.

This was a great example of combining multiple interests into one session.

Drew + Ava: Skateboarding

Yes, skateboarding absolutely counts.

Drew and Ava brought their boards, and we created photos at the skate park plus some graffiti-filled urban spots.

These sessions felt energetic, creative, and full of personality. Senior photos do not have to fit into a traditional mold.

Emma: Cheerleading at Her School Stadium

Emma brought cheerleading into her session, and we photographed her at the football stadium at her school.

There’s something special about using locations that were part of your actual high school experience. It adds nostalgia and meaning instantly.

Brooklyn: Cheerleading in the Studio

Brooklyn took a different route and brought cheerleading into the studio.

This gave us a clean, bold, modern look while still highlighting a huge part of her life.

Proof that sports photos don’t always have to happen outdoors.

Noah: Bowling in the Studio

Noah brought bowling into the studio, which made for such a fun and unexpected session.

This is exactly why personalizing your session matters. Creative ideas often become the most memorable photos.

Cole: Soccer

Cole’s soccer session took place at his high school field and in the stands.

That combination gave us action-inspired images plus relaxed portraits that still felt tied to his sport and school memories.

Sophia: Swimming

Sophia brought swimming into her session at the pool where she competes for her high school.

It was dynamic, personal, and such a strong representation of her dedication to the sport.

Aubrey: Softball

Aubrey’s senior session took place at her school softball field.

Using the real location where so many practices and games happened adds emotion and authenticity to photos.

Ben: Football, But Make It Urban

Ben brought football into his session with an urban twist.

Instead of the expected stadium setting, we styled his session with city textures and bold locations. It was athletic, edgy, and different in the best way.

Alex: Cross Country

Alex’s session had rural road vibes, and he incorporated his running shoes.

Simple? Yes. Powerful? Also yes.

Sometimes one meaningful detail is all you need to tell the story.

Be Yourself in Your Senior Photos

This is the whole point.

Your senior session should not feel like copying someone else’s Pinterest board.

It should reflect you.

Love sports? Bring them.
Spent four years on a team? Honor that.
Have gear you’re proud of? Bring it.
Want something different and creative? Let’s make it happen.

The best senior photos happen when you show pieces of your real life.
