If you’re a Kansas City high school senior looking for a session that feels completely you, Annberlynne’s senior session is the perfect example of how we can mix locations, personality, and style into something unforgettable.
For her senior photos, we explored two of the best senior photo locations in Kansas City: the West Bottoms for an edgy, urban vibe and Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center for soft, natural beauty. The result? A gallery that feels dynamic, personal, and full of life.

Starting in the West Bottoms: Gritty, Urban Senior Photos
We kicked things off in the West Bottoms which is one of the most unique spots in Kansas City for senior pictures. If you’re into texture, character, and something a little less traditional, this area is so fun to work in.
Between the graffiti walls, industrial backdrops, and layered textures, every corner gives a completely different look. It’s perfect for seniors who want something bold, editorial, or just a little outside the box.
One of the most unexpected highlights? The cats.
Yes, actual cats. There are so many that live down there! We saw a handful of them wandering around, and a few even followed us during the session like they were part of the crew. Annberlynne absolutely loved it, and it added such a fun energy to the shoot. Those little moments are what make sessions feel relaxed and memorable — and it always shows in the final images.

Anita B. Gorman: Natural, Light, and Timeless
After the West Bottoms, we headed over to Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center, which I think is one of the best nature locations in Kansas City for senior pictures.
This spot is beautiful year-round, which makes it super versatile for any season. Between the open fields, trails, and soft greenery, it gives you that dreamy, natural look that never goes out of style.
Annberlynne brought along a few props — books and bubbles — and we worked them in throughout this portion of the session. It added such a playful, personal touch and gave us a mix of candid and styled moments.
The contrast between locations really came to life here. Going from bold, gritty city vibes to soft, nature-filled images gives you so much variety in your final gallery and that’s something I always aim for.

Showcasing Personality: Taekwondo + Movement
One of my favorite parts of any senior session is incorporating what makes you you.
Annberlynne is a competitive martial artist and trains in taekwondo, so of course we had to include it. She brought her bo staff and absolutely showed up. We captured a mix of strong, powerful movement shots along with more relaxed portraits, which created such a cool contrast throughout her gallery.
Not only does this make your photos more meaningful, but it also makes them stand out. Whether it’s sports, hobbies, or passions this is your sign to bring it to your senior session.
(Pro tip for future seniors: movement photos are everything. They add energy, confidence, and a totally different feel compared to traditional poses.)
