If you’re starting the search for the perfect senior photographer, you probably have a lot of questions. And honestly, you should! Senior year is a huge milestone, and your senior pictures are something you’ll look back on for years to come.
As a Kansas City senior photographer, I’ve photographed hundreds of seniors over the years, and I’ve found that parents tend to ask many of the same questions before booking.
So I thought I’d put all the answers in one place.
Whether you’re wondering about turnaround times, outfit changes, locations, digital photos, or how to help a camera-shy teen feel comfortable, here’s everything you need to know about the MGP senior experience.
How Fast Is Turnaround for Senior Pictures?
Let’s start with one of the biggest questions.
At MGP, fast turnaround isn’t just a goal. It’s one of the foundations of my business.
I know how excited seniors are to see their photos, update their profile pictures, share images with friends, and start planning graduation announcements. I never want that excitement to disappear while waiting months for a gallery.
That’s why every senior session includes:
- Sneak peeks within 24–48 hours
- Full gallery delivery within two weeks
One of the things my clients appreciate most is consistency. You don’t have to wonder when your photos will arrive because I communicate throughout the process and deliver on the timeline I promise.
When it comes to Kansas City senior pictures, I believe you should be able to enjoy your images while senior year is still happening — not after it’s over.

Do We Get Digital Photos?
Absolutely.
Every MGP senior package includes digital images, but the amount varies based on the collection you choose.
The Icon Session includes all final images from your gallery, allowing you to download every image you love.
The Spotlight and Main Character Sessions include a set number of high-resolution digital images. After your gallery is delivered, you’ll select your favorites and those files will be delivered directly to you.
Your digital files are yours to:
- Share online
- Send to family and friends
- Print wherever you’d like
- Keep forever
If you decide you’d like additional images beyond what’s included in your package, those are always available for purchase. However, there is never any obligation to purchase more.

When Should We Book Senior Pictures?
The short answer? Earlier than you think.
The most popular time for Kansas City senior pictures is summer, and for good reason. The weather is usually cooperative, schedules are more flexible, and there are endless outdoor location options available.
That said, every season has its own unique look.
Summer Senior Sessions
- Green landscapes
- Longer evenings
- Flexible schedules
- Most popular booking season
Fall Senior Sessions
- Warm colors
- Beautiful foliage
- Cozy vibes
- Popular for sports and activities
Spring Senior Sessions
- Fresh blooms
- Bright colors
- Great for late bookings
Winter Senior Sessions
Kansas City weather can be unpredictable, but studio sessions are always an option and can create a clean, modern look.
I also encourage families to think about:
- Yearbook deadlines
- Sports/activites schedules
- Extracurricular commitments
The best dates tend to book first, so securing your session early gives you the most flexibility.

How Many Outfits Can My Senior Bring?
This depends on which session you choose.
Spotlight Session
- One outfit
Main Character Session
- Two to three outfits
Icon Session
- Three to five outfits
I always encourage variety because different outfits help tell a more complete story of who your senior is.
Maybe one outfit feels polished and dressy. Maybe another represents their everyday style. Maybe one showcases an activity or hobby they love.
The more variety we have, the more personalized your final gallery becomes.
And don’t worry about figuring it all out on your own. Every MGP senior receives outfit guidance through planning resources and personalized consultation so you’ll feel confident before session day arrives.

What If My Teen Hates Being Photographed?
This is probably one of the most common things parents tell me. And almost every time, those same parents end up shocked by how much fun their senior had.
The truth is, most seniors are not professional models. They don’t know what to do with their hands. They feel awkward in front of a camera. They worry they’ll look uncomfortable.
That’s completely normal.
My job is to guide them every step of the way.
I use:
- Posing guidance
- Movement prompts
- Natural interactions
- Conversation throughout the session
No modeling experience is required.
One thing that helps tremendously is that I actually meet with seniors before their session. During our planning call, we get to know each other, talk through ideas, and start building comfort before session day even arrives.
And if being a little goofy helps break the ice? Trust me, I have zero problem looking ridiculous if it helps your senior relax and be themselves.

How Long Does a Senior Session Last?
Session length depends on the collection you’ve selected.
As a general rule, I typically spend about 30 minutes photographing each outfit.
That allows plenty of time for:
- Outfit changes
- Multiple locations
- Walking between spots
- Natural breaks
- Variety in your gallery
Most importantly, I never schedule sessions to feel rushed. I intentionally leave room so your senior can relax, settle in, and enjoy the experience.
The best images happen when we’re not racing against the clock.

Do You Help Choose Locations?
Absolutely. In fact, helping choose locations is one of my favorite parts of the planning process.
Every senior is different, which means every session should feel different.
When helping select locations, I consider:
- Personality
- Hobbies
- Interests
- Style preferences
- Desired vibe
Whether your senior loves:
- Urban downtown locations
- Nature trails
- Colorful murals
- Open fields
- Editorial city vibes
- Classic Kansas City landmarks
I’ll help build a location plan that fits who they are.
After photographing seniors throughout the Kansas City area for years, I’ve built a huge list of locations and hidden gems that work beautifully for different personalities and aesthetics.

Can We Include Sports, Instruments, Pets, Cars, Hobbies, or Friends?
YES. One thousand times yes. The entire goal of the MGP experience is creating senior photos that actually feel like your senior.
If athletics are a huge part of their life, let’s include them.
If they play an instrument, bring it.
Love their car? Let’s use it.
Want photos with a horse, dog, or other pet? Absolutely.
Part of a theater program? Involved in dance? Obsessed with books? Passionate about art? Let’s celebrate it.
The more personal your session becomes, the more meaningful your final gallery will feel years from now.

Can We Order Graduation Announcements and Senior Albums?
Yep! In addition to digital images, we offer professionally designed products to help you celebrate senior year.
One of our most popular options is custom graduation announcements. Rather than using a generic template, Bridget personally designs each card to fit your senior’s style and images.
We also offer custom senior albums designed by Bridget. She’ll create the initial design, send proofs for review, and make changes until everything feels perfect.
All products are printed through a professional Missouri lab, which means exceptional quality and quick shipping.

What Makes MGP Different From Other Kansas City Senior Photographers?
There are a lot of talented photographers in Kansas City. What makes MGP different isn’t just the photos.
It’s the experience.
I believe senior pictures should feel personal, stress-free, and genuinely fun.
That’s why every MGP senior experience includes:
- Fast, reliable turnaround times
- Personalized planning
- Outfit guidance
- Location recommendations
- Confidence-building direction
- One-on-one support
- Custom products
- Consistent communication
- Years of experience photographing Kansas City seniors
Most importantly, I take the time to get to know each senior before we ever pick up a camera. Because the best senior photos don’t happen when someone perfectly follows a pose. They happen when someone feels comfortable enough to be themselves.
And that’s always the goal.

Senior year only happens once.
Whether your senior is outgoing, quiet, athletic, artistic, adventurous, or somewhere in between, I’d love to help create an experience that feels completely personalized to them.
